W5327307595_20bfb75103_b.jpgith support from WPF, the Schuylkill River Development Corporation is working to expand Philadelphia's world-class greenway by linking both sides of the tidal Schuylkill.

The Philadelphia-based planning firm, KSK is studying the feasibility of a pedestrian bridge over the Schuylkill and a new trail on the river's west side. A public meeting to review the preliminary findings is scheduled for February 8.

The goal of the projects being studied is to connect neighborhoods by providing pedestrian and bike friendly routes that will increase active transportation and create new access to recreational and cultural amenities such as the Centennial District in Fairmount Park, the West Bank Greenway, Schuylkill Banks, and Bartram’s Garden.

The public is invited to review the preliminary findings of KSK's study at an open house on February 8, from 6:00 – 7:45 pm. The event will be held in the Rainey Auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, located at 33rd and Spruce Streets.
