Funding Priority: Public Education

Funding Priority: Public Education

Many children who attend public schools in Greater Philadelphia’s urban districts are not sufficiently equipped for work or higher education. Inadequate education not only hurts children and families, but it also negatively impacts the region’s social and economic health.

Our main public education objectives are to:

  • Improve academic outcomes in Greater Philadelphia’s urban public schools, with an emphasis on the School District of Philadelphia.
  • Achieve an equitable school funding system in Pennsylvania.
  • Stem the tide of young people dropping out of school and increase opportunities to reengage those who have dropped out.
  • Foster a robust education advocacy community in Philadelphia and the surrounding communities.

We fund a select number of innovative pilot programs and demonstration projects that are typically developed in collaboration with the School District with the goal of institutionalizing successes and taking them to scale.
