Funding Priority: Protect, Conserve, and Restore Water Resources
The Foundation has a long history of advancing the protection and restoration of the region’s water system and the surrounding watershed lands that drain into the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers. Historically, these waterways have played significant roles in shaping the growth and development of Greater Philadelphia as industrial, recreational and natural assets, as well as providing a major source of drinking water.
Today, our program works to ensure our rivers continue to play this role well into the future by supporting policy reform and innovative projects, targeting riverside communities and water quality improvements.
We advance this priority through grants that address two objectives:
Improving the effectiveness of state water policies and regulations through policy advocacy for reform; and,
Promoting innovative local projects that test applications of regulations and demonstrate new practices and local policy approaches for adoption by state or municipal government.
