An interview with Kevin McCarthy of the RAND Corporation

Kevin McCarthy In March 2007, the RAND Corporation released Arts and Culture in the Metropolis: Strategies for Sustainability with support from the William Penn Foundation and the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. RAND’s social scientists explored how ten cities and regions comparable to Philadelphia were supporting their arts and cultural sectors.

In an interview with Patricia Horn, formerly of The Philadelphia Inquirer, RAND’s lead researcher on the study, Kevin McCarthy, elaborates on the role that Philadelphia should take in supporting arts and culture, and talks about what the city’s next leaders should do to establish a new, more effective Office of Arts and Culture.
